Jamie Chaplin-Brice

Jamie Chaplin-Brice

Jamie is a furniture designer/maker based in Cumbria, producing and manufacturing designs using locally sourced timber and reclaimed materials.

Jamie studied Furniture Design at Sheffield Hallam University and Industrial Design at the University of Lapland, Finland.

Jamie likes to see the design process from beginning to end, from planting trees to deliveries. He sees that a product or project is tailored to the client’s requirements, be it a batch production or a one off commission.

While traditional skills and new technologies are important, heritage and provenance make the backbone of each piece of furniture. Jamie is also a woodsman, practicing woodland management within the county and consulting further afield.

Jamie’s favourite part of a project is the starting point – finding a tree or a piece of timber which can be made into fabulous furniture can be exciting and is always far more rewarding once the project is complete.

Ensuring trees are planted to replace those that are used is an important ethos for Wudwork.
